How To Make A Real Difference Through Donating Old Clothing

If you want to make a difference in the world, consider donating your old clothing. After all, more than 95% of all people in the United States will make some type of donation over the course of a mere 12 months, and a used clothing donation is a great way to give back. Charitable clothing donations don’t cost anything, and most of us have more clothes than we even really know what to do with. For instance, a typical woman today even has upwards of 30 full outfits – up from only 9 outfits back in the year of 1930. And people now buy double the clothing that they did even just two decades in the past.

Fortunately, there are many different charitable organizations where you can send your old clothing that you no longer want or that no longer fits you. For instance, charities surrounding giving children in need clothing and other necessities are quite common, as giving children in need clothing and other basics is something that is more widely desirable and necessary than many people are even aware of. Giving children in need clothing and other basics can be accomplished through charitable donations to such charities that specialize in giving children in need clothing and other basics, such as those charities that are geared towards helping needy families. Helping families in need is a must, as helping families in need provides one way of giving children in need clothing and whatever else they might be missing out on.

Aside from giving children in need clothing and the other basic necessities of life, there are many other people who can benefit from charitable clothing donations as well. For instance, wounded veterans are often very much in need of such attention from charities, as they carry with them a new set of needs that they didn’t have before their military service. Therefore, addressing those needs has become the priority of many a charitable organization found all throughout the United States. Veterans clothing donations and clothing drives are common, and you can drop off clothing for a veterans charity in your neighborhood, at a used clothing pick up location, something that has become an installation in many a community, no matter what part of the country you might be talking about.

Donating used clothing is also something that will have a hugely positive environmental effect as well. After all, every piece of clothing that you donate is clothing that you are not sending to a landfill, something that has become more and more of a problem with each passing year. After all, the data surrounding this is clear – we are creating too much trash. In fact, the average person living in the United States is actually likely to create more than 80 pounds of total textile waste over the course of a single year. Unfortunately, this means that up to ten and a half million tons of textile waste ends up in various landfills in the United States over the course of a single year.

But buying used clothing and donating your old clothing can help. Fortunately, the demand for used clothing is very much on the rise, with the average person buying up to ten pounds of used – not new – clothing over the course of the year, which in and of itself has a considerable environmental impact. After all, the production of new clothes can take a huge environmental toll, and buying used clothing over new is a great way to get the clothes you want while protecting our planet.

Donating to charity is something that more and more people are becoming aware of. Fortunately, these charitable donations can make quite the impact in the world as we know it. For a great many people, charitable donations like used clothing and the food that comes out of food drives can even help them to survive, which is certainly not something to be underestimated by any means. Ultimately, used clothing along can have a big impact when it is donated, something that far too few people are actually all that well aware of here in the United States.
